Vårdval (public care choice)

In Region Skåne there is Vårdval psychotherapy. It means that you as a patient get to choose which psychotherapy practice you want to attend, once you have received a referral from a doctor or psychologist at your health centre.

When you have your referral, you decide which therapist to see.

Cost: You pay SEK 200 per session. Once you have paid up to SEK 1,450 within a year, care is free of charge for you.

Number of sessions: Between 16 and 23 sessions of 45 minutes (depending on diagnosis).

The first step is to get a referral. You do that by seeing a doctor or psychologist at your health centre. They assess your difficulties and, if they find it appropriate, send a referral for treatment within the care choice system.
